How many times have you been asked or told, when are you getting married? When are you going to have kids? You’re just getting older or time isn’t on your side and so on. Whether being in a relationship, getting married, starting a family, or living the single life is your desire, embracing your status as a bachelorette/bachelor is important and can be exciting. I didn’t realize how important or how much fun it could be to be single until I left a toxic relationship. Here are just a few key steps to embracing your singleness;
- Get comfortable being “alone”: Learning to be “alone” with yourself can be a challenge if you’re used to being in relationships. Give yourself a break after break-up, allow yourself to find out who you are, spend quality time with your thoughts and feelings, fill your own space.
- Learn to love yourself: Embrace your flaws and all. Know that you can love yourself just as you are and growth as a person if you choose to. It sounds cliché and the truth is, you can’t truly, madly and deeply love someone else until you love yourself unconditionally. Know and own your value and worth so when you find a partner they energetically sense it.
- Trust the process: Have a blast being single. Step outside your comfort zone and do things you would never imagine possible. Have fun embracing your loneliness, accepting your flaws, finding yourself, and living. Trust that when your time as a bachelor/bachelorette is to come to an end it will and you will embrace that relationship.
